FromSoftware Rewrites History With Its Latest DLC

FromSoftware made history again with Elden Ring, now with the massively successful Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Shadow of the Erdtree became the highest-rated expansion in Metacritic history and sold 5 million units in just three days.

FromSoftware remains at the top of the video game industry and it seems that only they can challenge their position, all thanks to this new sales triumph. Elden Ring had already reached 25 million units sold, establishing itself as a very popular fantasy RPG and winner of the GOTY 2022. Despite some criticism regarding the performance and difficulty of the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree has further increased the success of the original title.

The company announced on social media that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has reached 5 million units sold worldwide in just three days. According to analyst Serkan Toto on his X/Twitter account, this could be a new record, with an impressive 20% of buyers of the base game purchasing the DLC for 40 euros in such a short time.

Additionally, there is usually a surge in new players of the base game after the release of an expansion. One way or another, FromSoftware has once again impressed the community with an expansion that lives up to the original title. However, some players have criticized Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on Steam for its high difficulty, although the company recently responded with a patch that addresses this.
